Pure Twenties travels back in time to the roaring twenties where processed food was unheard of. The food was pure and free of chemical enhancers or preservers. Pure Twenties will display an atmosphere of the 1920s while serving American fair food. Symmetry, repetition and emphasis will be used to carry out the design. The main entrance and door to the bar will be placed symmetrical on the east side. The kitchen and bar will be placed on opposing sides of the restaurant and the dining room will be central. In the dining room the tables will all be places in straight lines creating unity and using repetition. The usage of wood and natural colors will emphasize the “purity” of the time period. The 1920s will also be emphasized by the décor of the restaurant, the waitresses dressed as flappers, and the jazz musicians that will preform. Lastly the bar lounge and bar will have its own door and a wall separating it from the dining room emphasizing that the 1920s was a time of prohibition. Together these design principles will create a strong layout and design of Pure Twenties. Mostly earth tones will be used. Green will be the dominant color. Green creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere streaming from the idea of green being the color of grass and leaves, the color of nature. Green also promotes a love of family and friends. It is the color of a good host. A small amount of a deep violet will be used. It is a powerful color that is related to higher spiritual attainment and imagination. Stimulating an imagination is important in Pure Twenties to imagine yourself in the time period. Accents of orange will be added to give color and a feel of the specific time period. Orange will add life and cheer to the overall neutral color scheme. Orange encourages social communication, warmth and happiness. Pastel oranges can also stimulate an appetite. A shade of orange, brown, will be used; brown suppresses the emotions, creating a safe haven from the stresses of the outside world. The color brown is associated with natural, organic produce and anything related to the great outdoors, agriculture and farming also relating to the overall concept of Pure Twenties. |
